Templo de la Virgen de Guadalupe

An impressive combination of natural, architectural, historic and cultural treasures is just waiting to be explored. The spirit of adventure lives among the rocks, rivers and ravines of this region and the people express great pride in their ancestry and history. The land and its people are refreshing and greatly admired. A discovery of this class had not been made for many years, but now this hidden treasure has been revealed for true land and history explorers to enjoy.

Señor San José Church

Donated by don Antonio de Vivanco in 1780, this church preserves a Baroque façade.

Bolaños Royal Treasury

It was here, in this eighteenth century structure, that gold coins of New Galicia were minted, ingots were stamped and the royal fifth was paid (tax equivalent to 20% of the profits made on mineral deposits). The seal of Castilla and Aragón can still be seen in its entrance.

Virgen de Guadalupe (La Playa) Temple

From the seventeenth century, this beautifully preserved temple has a clean Baroque style that is the epitome of colonial architecture.

Old Church

With a Baroque façade, this was the only temple in Bolaños until 1779.

Ensaje House

Also known as the Granada House because of its copula, it was the third and last official Spanish building.

Antonio de Vivanco House

Built at the end of the eighteenth century by a wealthy public figure, this house is known today as the Gringo House, a name given to the mining entrepreneur who bought the house in the 1960.

Grande Hacienda

This hacienda belonged to the miner and businessman don José López Portillo in the eighteenth century. It was the biggest in Bolaños.

Guadalupe Hacienda

Also named Hacienda de los Ingleses, it was built in 1830. It still retains some of its splendor.

Huila Chapel

Built in the seventeenth century, this chapel is located in Huilacatitlán.

The Sacristy

Also called La Fábrica, this historical construction in Huilacatitlán was intended to be a temple, but was never completed.

Scenic Lookout

From here visitors can appreciate a spectacular panorama of the town and its surroundings.

Patron Saint Festival: mañanitas (traditional morning songs), pilgrimages, sporting tournaments, artistic and historic exhibitions (August 6).
