Sierra Mojada
Upon finding Sierra Mojada on a map, 195 km (121 miles) from Torreón on the Chihuahua state line, you many envision a town with little to offer. However, nothing is further from the truth. Just as Néstor Arreola discovered rich silver deposits here in 1879, which led to the founding of this town in the same year, this area holds many surprises waiting to be discovered. Its urban image, characterized by the cleanliness and simple layout of its streets, will surprise you. As well, it will be difficult to resist hiking into the Sierra Mojada for mountain climbing or rappelling, or surely, you will be tempted to visit one of the iron or silver mines. Before leaving, don’t forget to register your visit in the Cueva de los Nombres and pay your respects to the writer Ambrose Biertce.
