Huatabampo

Playa de HuatabampitoPlaya de HuatabampitoWith fishing, agriculture and ranching driving its economy, the town of Huatabampo (wil­low in the water in the Cahita tongue) boasts a wide array of natural wonders which, without a doubt, will soon launch this town into the tourism sector. With 110 kilometers (68 miles) of coast, and a wealth of culture and tradition, this “Land of Gener­als” and inheritance of the Mayos will soon flour­ish and become the tourist hot spot that history and Mother Nature designed it to be.

Municipal Palace

Built at the beginning of the twentieth century, this site still preserves some of the architectural elements, such as its columns and historic clock, of the building from which General Álvaro Obregón departed to join the Revolution in 1913.

Santísima Trinidad Temple

This temple’s towers, large, religious-themed stained glass windows and bell tower proudly stand out. This simple yet elegant building was constructed in 1950.

Juárez Plaza

This refreshing landscape has witnessed many impor­tant historical events. Its central kiosk invites us to relax and contemplate the pleasant surroundings.

General Álvaro Obregón Museum

This historic mansion displays a large collection of personal objects and belongings of the Obregón family: a limousine, guns, agricultural tools, suits, fur­niture and much more.

General Álvaro Obregón Mausoleum

The remains of General Obregón are found here. His tragic passing occurred on July 17, 1928 when he was assassinated by José León Toral in La Bombilla Restaurant in Mexico City.

Blas Masso Cultural Center

Located in the Júpare common lands, this cultural center houses a rich display of artisan creations and everyday items from the Mayo culture: reed grass objects, wooden handicrafts, metates (grinding bowls), griddles and many more pieces.

Huatabampito

Huatabampito boasts 20 kilometers (12.5 miles) of fine sand beaches and an expansive desert backdrop. This natural distribution results in amazing sand dunes. Al­though there is practically no tourist infrastructure in the area, a visit is highly recommended. At the beach, visitors can rent palapas or enjoy a meal in one of the beach’s simple restaurants. Without a doubt, Huatabam­pito is one of the town’s best attractions.
